The Soul Merchant

The Soul Merchant

I have no desire to deceive you I am not in the business of buying or selling souls. No, rather my interests lie in finding souls that have been discarded, damaged, spoiled and undervalued. The souls that have become burdensome, wearying and therefore have no claim on the attentions or affections of other people: The souls of those silently waiting to fade into eternity. They can be found almost anywhere. Truth be told there is not much of a market for broken souls, actually there are two primary challengers who seek what I find. So if you are thinking of competing with me for a share of this market, please be advised that the profits are very thin and the underlying expenses are outrageous.
So I am not in the business or buying and selling souls, so what do I actually do…I come across unwanted souls regularly and I quickly assess the intrinsic value attached to the life of a soul. If the soul has the ability to share an eternal vision of its worth and expresses a willingness to undertake a few steps forward (with help) my particular talents come to the fore as I assist my prospect to transform issues of character and worth using a vision of themselves that has always existed just beyond their knowledge and understanding. If my soul-find can briefly glimpse that vision then they have begun a journey which ends in the restoration of son-ship and discovery of the treasure of truly being loved.
I call it a journey because that is exactly what it is….a long journey together. Amid the flutter of angel wings we are often surprised by the events which occur on this journey. My sojourners’ come from such a vast array of backgrounds and adventures, but they all have one thing in common. They have been discarded and largely abandoned by others who have experienced relentless pains and an irresistible sense of loss which produces anger and feelings of hopelessness. Sadly they have come to this place out of an awareness that they were not enough to produce the desired changes in the wayward heart. In their grief they push away the offending soul and try to draw a peaceful breath.
There is a real soul merchant, His name is Jesus Christ. We are purchased at the cost of His life, death and resurrection. He has redeemed each of us from the personal consequences of sin and trespasses. We merely need to make the choice to allow Him to sit on the thrones of our lives. If we are willing to accept His great gift then our lives are transformed by the Holy Spirit who works through all of the circumstances of our lives. There are no mistakes so terrible that the Lord of Life cannot redeem and use for His own glory and honor. I know this to be true because I have made horrible errors which have become the basis for a new life in Him.
